I Just Accepted Christ. Now What?

Beginning Your New Life in Christ

Making a decision to follow Jesus Christ is the most important step you will ever take. Whether you prayed to receive Christ recently, recommitted your life to Him, or are just beginning to understand what faith means, you have started a new journey.

You do not have to have all the answers today. Every Christian begins as a learner. The Bible calls us disciples—people who follow Jesus and learn from Him day by day.

The Christian life is not about becoming perfect overnight. It is about growing in a relationship with Jesus through God’s grace.

A New Beginning with Christ
Following Jesus is not the end of a journey—it is the beginning of a new life filled with grace, growth, and purpose.

What Happened When You Accepted Christ?

When you placed your faith in Jesus Christ:

You were forgiven of your sins.

You were welcomed into God’s family.

You received the gift of eternal life.

The Holy Spirit began working within you.

You became a new creation in Christ.

God’s love for you does not depend on your performance. Your salvation is based on God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Your First Steps

Talk to God Every Day

Prayer is simply talking with God.

You do not need special words or perfect prayers. Thank God for His love, ask for His guidance, confess your sins, and share your concerns with Him.

God desires a personal relationship with you.

Begin Reading the Bible

The Bible helps us know who God is and how He wants us to live.

A good place to begin is the Gospel of John. As you read, ask:

What does this teach me about Jesus?

What does this teach me about God?

How can I apply this to my life?

Even a few verses each day can help you grow.

Worship with Other Christians

Faith was never meant to be lived alone.

Find a church where God’s Word is taught, Jesus is honored, and people encourage one another in faith.

Worship helps us grow, learn, and stay connected to God’s people.

Learn and Grow

New Christians grow through discipleship.

As you learn more about Jesus, you will discover how to pray, study Scripture, serve others, and live out your faith in everyday life.

Growth happens one step at a time.

What If I Still Have Questions?

Every Christian has questions.

You may wonder about prayer, baptism, salvation, church membership, suffering, heaven, or many other topics.

Questions are not a sign of weak faith. Questions are often part of growing faith.

Keep learning, keep asking, and keep seeking God.

What If I Mess Up?

Every Christian struggles and falls short.

When you sin, do not give up.

Confess your sin to God, receive His forgiveness, and continue walking with Him.

God’s grace is greater than your failures.

The Christian life is not about never stumbling. It is about continually turning back to Christ.

A Simple Prayer

“Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and saving me. Help me grow in my faith. Teach me through Your Word. Guide me by Your Spirit. Help me follow You each day and become the person You created me to be. Amen.”
