Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church is proud to be part of Pleasant Grove, Alabama — a community where neighbors matter, families grow, and people still care for one another.
For generations, our church has walked alongside the people of Pleasant Grove through seasons of joy, challenge, rebuilding, growth, and hope.
We are grateful to call this community home.
As part of western Jefferson County and the western Birmingham area, Pleasant Grove is known for strong family connections, caring neighbors, community pride, and deep roots.

Pleasant Grove has long been known as “The Good Neighbor City.”
That spirit can still be seen throughout the community:
- neighbors helping neighbors,
- families supporting local schools and teams,
- churches serving together,
- friendships that last for generations,
- and people walking beside one another during both joyful and difficult seasons.
Pleasant Grove is a place where local connections matter and relationships still feel personal.
Many people who grew up here continue to stay connected to the community and to the church family that helped shape their lives.
Some members who have moved away from Pleasant Grove still drive back each week because Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church continues to feel like home.

Pleasant Grove is a community built on strong families, caring neighbors, and a spirit of connection that continues to shape life in western Jefferson County.

Pleasant Grove is also a community marked by resilience.

Pleasant Grove’s city leadership works alongside residents, businesses, schools, churches, and community organizations to strengthen the city and support its future.
Today, the community includes:
- storm shelters built to help protect residents during severe weather,
- a community center,
- parks and recreation areas,
- athletic fields and ball parks,
- picnic pavilions and gathering spaces,
- a public library,
- city leadership through an elected mayor and city council,
- a local police department,
- and a dedicated fire department serving the community.
These places reflect a city that continues to invest in caring for its people and strengthening the future of the community.

Throughout the week, neighbors gather at ball games, parks, restaurants, schools, churches, and community events where friendships grow and community happens.
These everyday places help make Pleasant Grove feel welcoming, connected, and rooted in relationships.
