At Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, we believe small acts of kindness can shine like a beacon in someone’s darkest moment. Through our partnership with Be Kind Birmingham, we join a larger mission to care for our neighbors across the Birmingham area.

This ministry gives us a simple but powerful way to live out our faith—by putting love into action.

What Is Be Kind Birmingham?

Be Kind Birmingham is a community-focused outreach that provides essential items to individuals and families in need. From hygiene products to everyday necessities, this ministry meets people right where they are—with dignity, compassion, and care.

At PGUMC, we support this mission by collecting and distributing needed supplies through our Blessing Box and outreach partnerships.

How We Participate

Our church family actively supports Be Kind Birmingham by:

  • Collecting hygiene items and basic necessities
  • Stocking our outdoor Blessing Box for the community
  • Partnering with local ministries and organizations
  • Encouraging ongoing giving through small, consistent acts of kindness

This is not a one-time project—it’s an ongoing opportunity to serve.

What to Donate

You can help by donating items such as:

  • Travel-size toiletries (soap, shampoo, deodorant)
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Socks and small clothing items
  • Non-perishable snacks
  • Bottled water

Donations can be placed in the designated collection area or Blessing Box.

Why It Matters

Kindness opens doors. A simple item can remind someone they are seen, valued, and loved.

When we give, we become part of something bigger:
