Spiritual Disciplines
Growing Closer to God Through Daily Practices

Growing in Grace Through Daily Practices
Spiritual disciplines help us draw closer to God through prayer, Scripture, worship, service, and faithful daily living. Small habits of faith can shape a lifetime of discipleship.
Spiritual disciplines are practices that help us grow in our relationship with Christ. They do not earn God’s love or favor. Instead, they create space for us to listen to God, learn from Scripture, deepen our faith, and live as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Just as healthy habits strengthen the body, spiritual habits strengthen our faith.
At Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, we encourage disciples to grow through worship, prayer, study, service, generosity, and Christian community.
As we practice these disciplines, God shapes our hearts, renews our minds, and helps us become more like Christ.
Why Spiritual Disciplines Matter
Spiritual disciplines help us:
- Know God more deeply
- Understand Scripture more clearly
- Strengthen our faith during difficult seasons
- Hear God’s guidance
- Grow in Christian character
- Serve others with love
- Connect worship to everyday life
