Senior Adult Ministries

Growing, Serving, and Thriving
Senior Adult Ministries at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church exists to help older adults stay connected, continue growing in faith, build meaningful friendships, and find opportunities to serve others. We believe every season of life has purpose, and that God continues to work through His people regardless of age.
Older adults are an important part of the life and ministry of our church. They bring wisdom, experience, encouragement, and faithful service that strengthen our congregation and community. Through fellowship, learning opportunities, wellness programs, outreach ministries, and worship, we seek to create places where senior adults can belong, grow, and thrive.
Whether you are newly retired, caring for a spouse, enjoying time with grandchildren, seeking new friendships, or looking for ways to stay active and involved, there is a place for you here.
Growing in Faith
Spiritual growth does not end with retirement. In many ways, the later years of life provide new opportunities to deepen our relationship with God.
Senior adults are encouraged to participate in worship, Sunday School classes, Bible studies, prayer groups, and discipleship opportunities. These experiences help strengthen faith, build relationships, and provide encouragement for everyday life.
As we continue learning and growing, we also become mentors and examples for future generations.
Fellowship and Community
One of the greatest blessings of church life is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships.
Senior Adult Ministries provides opportunities for friendship, conversation, laughter, and encouragement. Whether gathering for meals, special events, music, games, service projects, or simply sharing life together, relationships help strengthen our faith and enrich our lives.
No one should walk through life’s challenges alone.
Health and Wellness
Healthy aging involves caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.
Through programs such as chair yoga, balance and fall prevention activities, health fairs, wellness education, and other opportunities, we encourage older adults to remain active and engaged.
These activities promote physical well-being while also creating opportunities for fellowship and support.
Serving Others
Retirement may change our schedules, but it does not end our calling.
Senior adults continue to make a tremendous difference through prayer ministries, outreach projects, mentoring, visitation, mission work, hospitality, teaching, and countless acts of service.
Many of the ministries that bless our church and community are strengthened by the faithful involvement of senior adults.
Encouragement During Life’s Challenges
The later years of life often bring unique joys and challenges. Health concerns, caregiving responsibilities, grief, transitions, and changing circumstances can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Senior Adult Ministries seeks to provide encouragement, support, resources, and caring relationships for those navigating these seasons of life.
Together, we remind one another that God remains faithful in every stage of the journey.
A Biblical Perspective
Scripture celebrates the wisdom and faithfulness that come with age.
“They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and very green.” — Psalm 92:14
God continues to use His people throughout their lives. Senior adults remain vital participants in His work, His church, and His kingdom.
Opportunities at Pleasant Grove
Many of our ministries and activities are especially meaningful for older adults, including fellowship gatherings, wellness programs, educational opportunities, outreach ministries, worship services, and service projects.
