Salvation and Grace
Understanding God’s Greatest Gift
At the heart of the Christian faith is the good news that God loves us and has made a way for us to be forgiven, restored, and brought into a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
The Bible calls this gift salvation.

Saved by Grace Through Faith
Salvation is God’s gift of love through Jesus Christ. We cannot earn it—it is freely given through His grace and received through faith.
What Is Salvation?
Salvation means being rescued from sin and its consequences and being brought into a new relationship with God.
Because all people have sinned, we are separated from God. No amount of good behavior can remove that separation. God knew we could not save ourselves, so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to do for us what we could never do on our own.
Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead. Through faith in Him, we receive forgiveness, new life, and the promise of eternal life.
What Is Grace?
Grace is God’s undeserved love and favor toward us.
Grace means God gives us what we do not deserve. We cannot earn God’s love. We cannot earn salvation. God offers it freely because of His love.
Grace is one of the most beautiful truths in the Christian faith. Before we ever sought God, He was already reaching out to us.
God’s Grace at Work
Methodists often speak about grace in three ways.
Prevenient Grace
Before we ever knew God, God was already working in our lives.
He was drawing us toward Himself, helping us recognize our need for Him, and preparing our hearts to receive His love.
Justifying Grace
When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, God forgives our sins and makes us right with Him.
This is the moment of salvation when we are reconciled to God through Christ.
Sanctifying Grace
After we become Christians, God continues working in our lives.
The Holy Spirit helps us grow in faith, become more like Christ, and live according to God’s will.
Christian growth is a lifelong journey of sanctifying grace.
How Do I Receive Salvation?
The Bible teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
We acknowledge our sin.
We trust Jesus as Savior and Lord.
We receive God’s gift of grace.
We begin following Christ.
Salvation is not based on what we have done but on what Jesus has done for us.
Can I Lose God’s Love?
Nothing can separate believers from God’s love.
Christians may struggle, doubt, fail, or wander at times, but God remains faithful.
His grace continues to call us, forgive us, strengthen us, and lead us back to Him.
Living in Grace
When we understand God’s grace, we respond with gratitude.
We worship God because He loves us.
We serve others because He served us.
We forgive because He forgave us.
We grow because He continues working within us.
Grace changes not only our eternal future but also our daily lives.
Closing Encouragement
The Christian life begins and continues through grace.
God loved you before you knew Him. He saved you through Jesus Christ. He walks with you today through the Holy Spirit. And He will continue shaping your life as you follow Him.
Salvation is God’s gift.
Grace is God’s ongoing work.
Both point us to the love of Jesus Christ.
