Health Fair For Community Brings Learning, Fellowship, and Fun
June 17, 2026
Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church welcomed community members, senior adults, volunteers, and guests for a successful Community Health Fair on Wednesday, June 17.
The event was held in partnership with the UAB School of Physical Therapy and Blue Cross Blue Shield and provided opportunities for participants to learn more about their health while enjoying fellowship and community connections.
Throughout the morning, UAB fellows and faculty worked one-on-one with participants, providing wellness assessments that included blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen level, balance, grip strength, and other simple health indicators. Participants also received practical education and information to help them maintain healthy lifestyles.
We were especially pleased to welcome visitors from the Edgewater Senior Center, along with members of our church and community.
In addition to health screenings and educational opportunities, guests enjoyed games, snacks, music, fellowship, and conversations with community partners who shared resources and information designed to support healthy aging and wellness.
Events like this reflect our commitment to caring for the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. We are grateful to the UAB School of Physical Therapy, Blue Cross Blue Shield, our community partners, church volunteers, and everyone who attended.
Thank you to all who helped make this event possible.
We look forward to future opportunities to serve our community through education, wellness, fellowship, and faith.
Thank You
