Prayer Shawl Ministry
Wrap someone in love, hope, and prayer.
Our Prayer Shawl Ministry creates more than shawls—it creates tangible comfort and God’s presence for those in need.
Started in 2013 by inspired and caring prayer warriors, this ministry is a labor of love.
Each shawl begins with prayers for the recipient, continues with petitions during its creation, and is consecrated in a worship service at Pleasant Grove. Every shawl is then washed, tagged, and accompanied by a prayer letter before being sent out.
It’s a ministry that connects the hearts and hands of our church family with those who need comfort, solace, and hope.
Every shawl carries Christ’s light—bringing warmth, healing, and reassurance to those going through challenging times.
Through prayer, care, and creativity, our volunteers shine God’s love into lives near and far, offering tangible reminders that no one is alone.

Be part of a ministry that wraps God’s love around our neighbors, one stitch at a time.

We give prayer shawls to…
…those who are distressed (e.g., comfort for the aging, healing during an illness and recovery, solace for broken hearts or bruised spirits, strength for deployed Service members and their families);
…those who mourn the loss of a loved one;
…those who travel or move away;
…those who celebrate the arrival or baptism of a new baby;
…those who take on new responsibilities at graduation;
…those who rejoice in the love of a new marriage;
…those who honor the bonds of true friendship.
Experience God’s love in a tangible way.
Prayer shawls are more than blankets—they are prayers, blessings, and expressions of comfort crafted by caring hands and hearts.
For generations, people have served God through prayer using shawls and blankets. Over time, shawls have come to symbolize shelter, peace, and spiritual nourishment.
At Pleasant Grove UMC, each shawl is a hand-made expression of love, created with countless prayers interwoven into every stitch. These shawls connect the giver and recipient, wrapping both in the embrace of God’s unconditional love.
Prayer shawls become a tangible reminder of God’s presence when words cannot fully express comfort, care, or compassion.
Freely given, with no strings attached, each shawl shines as a beacon of hope and spiritual sustenance. Made in prayer, as prayer, and for prayer, they pass from hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart, carrying God’s love into the lives of those who need it most.
