Unstoppable: Season 4

Witness Before Kings
Though imprisoned, Paul never stopped sharing the story of Jesus Christ. Before governors, military leaders, and kings, he boldly testified to God’s grace and the power of a transformed life.

Your Story Matters
Paul repeatedly shared how Jesus changed his life. Every believer has a story of God’s grace that can encourage others and point them toward Christ.
4.2- Lesson 4.2 Witness Before Kings
Acts 24–26
Season 4: Unstoppable
Introduction
Paul was no longer traveling freely from city to city.
He was a prisoner.
His missionary journeys had given way to court hearings, legal proceedings, and long periods of waiting.
Yet Paul’s mission had not changed.
Where others saw imprisonment, Paul saw opportunity.
Where others saw obstacles, Paul saw audiences.
Instead of standing before congregations and synagogues, Paul now found himself standing before governors, rulers, military commanders, and kings.
Again and again, he used every opportunity to share the gospel and testify about Jesus Christ.
Acts 24–26 reminds us that God’s mission is not limited by our circumstances. Even when doors seem to close, God often opens unexpected opportunities for witness.
Scripture References
Acts 24–26 (NASB)
Key Verse
“King Agrippa, do you believe the Prophets? I know that you do.” — Acts 26:27 (NASB)
Historical Background
After his arrest in Jerusalem, Paul was transferred to Caesarea for his protection.
For approximately two years, he remained in custody while appearing before several Roman officials.
These hearings provided opportunities for Paul to explain his faith, defend the gospel, and testify about Jesus Christ.
What appeared to be a delay in God’s plan actually became part of God’s plan.
The message of Christ reached influential leaders who otherwise might never have heard it.
GROW Framework
Grounded in Scripture
Paul Before Felix
(Acts 24)
Paul appeared before Governor Felix to answer accusations made against him.
His opponents attempted to portray him as a troublemaker and a threat.
Paul calmly explained his beliefs and defended his conduct.
As Felix listened, Paul spoke about righteousness, self-control, and judgment.
The governor became uneasy but postponed making a decision.
Felix heard the truth but delayed responding to it.
Waiting in Uncertainty
(Acts 24:24–27)
Paul remained imprisoned for two years.
Scripture gives little detail about those years.
Yet Paul continued trusting God.
Waiting became part of his ministry.
Faithfulness is often demonstrated not only in action but also in perseverance.
God continues working even when progress seems slow.
Paul Before Festus
(Acts 25)
A new governor, Festus, inherited Paul’s case.
Again accusations were made.
Again Paul defended himself.
Recognizing that justice might not be possible locally, Paul exercised his right as a Roman citizen and appealed to Caesar.
This decision would eventually take him to Rome.
God was continuing to fulfill His promise from Acts 23:11.
Paul Before King Agrippa
(Acts 26)
King Agrippa and Bernice came to hear Paul’s case.
Paul used the opportunity to share his testimony once again.
He described:
His former life
His opposition to Christians
His encounter with Jesus
His calling to proclaim the gospel
Paul’s focus remained on Christ.
Even before powerful rulers, he spoke with humility, courage, and conviction.
The Power of a Personal Testimony
(Acts 26:24–29)
As Paul spoke, Festus accused him of being out of his mind.
Paul remained calm and continued presenting the truth.
Then he addressed King Agrippa directly.
Paul’s desire was not simply to win an argument.
His desire was for others to come to faith in Christ.
His testimony became a witness to God’s transforming grace.
Reasons We Believe
God Can Use Any Circumstance
Paul’s imprisonment became a platform for ministry.
God often works through situations we would never choose for ourselves.
Our Testimony Has Power
Paul repeatedly shared how Jesus changed his life.
Personal stories of God’s grace continue to impact people today.
Faithfulness Matters More Than Position
Paul stood before governors and kings with the same message he shared everywhere else.
His circumstances changed, but his mission remained the same.
God Opens Unexpected Doors
The gospel reached influential leaders because Paul remained faithful where God placed him.
God continues creating opportunities for witness today.
Obedience in Action
Acts 24–26 challenges believers to ask:
How can I remain faithful during seasons of waiting?
Am I prepared to share my testimony?
Do I look for opportunities to speak about my faith?
How has God worked through difficult circumstances in my life?
Who might God be placing in my path to encourage or influence?
God often uses ordinary conversations to accomplish extraordinary purposes.
Walk It Out
Consider these questions:
Why do you think Paul continued sharing his testimony?
How did Paul remain faithful during years of uncertainty?
What does this passage teach about patience?
How has God used unexpected circumstances in your life?
What part of your faith story could encourage someone else?
Possible Responses
You may identify situations where God used challenges to create new opportunities.
You may realize that your testimony can encourage others.
You may feel called to trust God more fully during seasons of waiting.
Living the Message
Paul could have focused on his imprisonment.
Instead, he focused on his mission.
He continued speaking about Jesus.
He continued sharing his story.
He continued trusting God.
The same opportunity exists for believers today.
Every season of life presents opportunities to reflect God’s grace.
Whether at work, at home, in church, or during difficult circumstances, Christians are called to be faithful witnesses.
Every Audience Matters
Paul shared the gospel with crowds, church members, governors, soldiers, and kings.
He understood that every person mattered to God.
Acts 24–26 reminds us that witness is not limited to formal ministry.
Wherever God places us, we have opportunities to share His love, truth, and hope.
The mission remains unstoppable because the gospel continues moving from one person to another.
