Season 4 — Miracles, Opposition, and Growing Faith

Discovering Who Jesus Really Is

As Jesus’ ministry continued, the crowds grew larger.

More people heard His teaching.

More people witnessed His miracles.

More lives were changed.

But as support increased, opposition also increased.

Religious leaders began questioning Jesus more aggressively.

Some people believed.

Others doubted.

Some followed Him faithfully.

Others turned away.

The question became increasingly important:

Who is Jesus?

Season 4 explores a period in Jesus’ ministry when faith deepened, opposition intensified, and His identity became clearer.

The miracles became greater.

The questions became harder.

The crowds became larger.

The conflicts became sharper.

Jesus continued revealing God’s Kingdom through teaching, healing, compassion, and miraculous signs.

At the same time, He challenged traditions, confronted hypocrisy, and invited people to place their trust in Him.

This season contains some of the most beloved stories in the Gospels and some of the strongest challenges to faith.

Understanding the Season

Why Does Opposition Increase?

As Jesus’ influence grew, some religious leaders became concerned.

They questioned His authority.

They challenged His teachings.

They disagreed with His interpretation of Scripture.

Some worried about losing influence and control.

Others simply refused to believe He was the Messiah.

Why Are Miracles Important?

The miracles revealed God’s compassion and power.

They also pointed to Jesus’ identity.

The miracles invited people to decide how they would respond to Him.

Why Is Faith a Major Theme?

Throughout this season, people repeatedly face moments requiring trust.

Storms arise.

Crowds become hungry.

Diseases seem hopeless.

Questions remain unanswered.

Again and again, Jesus calls people to trust Him.

Why Is This Season a Turning Point?

By the end of this season, Jesus’ disciples begin understanding more clearly who He is.

Peter will make one of the most important declarations in the Gospels:

“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Old Testament Connections

Throughout the Old Testament, God demonstrated power over:

nature,

disease,

evil,

armies,

and death.

The miracles of Jesus reveal that God’s power is present and active through Him.

The prophets also spoke of a coming Messiah who would:

heal,

restore,

save,

and bring God’s Kingdom.

Season 4 shows these promises becoming reality.

Missing Context Check

Why Did Some People Reject Jesus Despite the Miracles?

Many expected the Messiah to be a political king who would overthrow Rome.

Jesus came first as a Savior who would address sin and restore people’s relationship with God.

His mission often differed from people’s expectations.

Why Were Miracles Not Enough for Everyone?

Miracles could attract attention, but they could not force faith.

People still had to decide whether they would trust Jesus.

What Is Faith?

Faith is more than believing facts.

Faith involves trusting God, following Jesus, and remaining faithful even when questions remain.
