Season 6: Kings and Kingdoms

Kings and Kingdoms: From Shepherds to Kings
Israel’s story entered a new chapter as judges gave way to kings. Through Saul, David, Solomon, and the generations that followed, God revealed both the possibilities and limitations of human leadership while continuing His plan of redemption.
From Shepherds to Kings
Israel had been led by judges, prophets, and faithful leaders for generations.
But the people wanted something different.
They wanted a king.
They looked around at the nations surrounding them and desired a ruler who would lead them into battle, provide security, and represent their nation.
God warned them about the challenges that would come with earthly kings, yet He allowed them to make their choice.
What followed was a dramatic season in Israel’s history filled with victories, failures, wisdom, rebellion, worship, and divided loyalties.
Some kings trusted God.
Others turned away from Him.
Through it all, God remained faithful to His covenant promises.
Season 6 explores the rise of Israel’s monarchy, the reigns of Saul, David, and Solomon, and the lessons that emerged as God’s people learned that no earthly king could fully accomplish what only God could do.
Ultimately, these stories point forward to Jesus Christ—the true King whose kingdom will never end.
Why Study the Kings?
The stories of Israel’s kings teach us:
Leadership matters.
Success does not guarantee faithfulness.
God looks at the heart.
Wisdom is a gift from God.
Choices have lasting consequences.
Earthly kingdoms rise and fall, but God’s kingdom endures forever.
These stories remind us that people often place their hope in human leaders, while God calls His people to place their hope in Him.
