Angels, Demons, and Spiritual Warfare

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. Yet believers stand firm through the power of Christ. (Ephesians 6:12)

Angels, Demons, and Spiritual Warfare

Foundations of Faith: Core Beliefs

The Bible teaches that there is both a visible world and an unseen spiritual realm. God created angels as spiritual beings who serve Him, carry out His purposes, and minister to His people. Throughout Scripture, angels appear as messengers, protectors, worshipers, and servants of God.

The Bible also teaches that some angels rebelled against God. Satan, also called the devil, is the leader of these fallen angels, commonly called demons. Demons oppose God’s work, seek to deceive people, and encourage sin and unbelief. However, Scripture makes clear that Satan and the demons are not equal to God. God is sovereign over all creation, and Christ has already won the ultimate victory through His death and resurrection.

Spiritual warfare refers to the ongoing spiritual struggle between God’s kingdom and the forces of evil. Christians are called to remain faithful, resist temptation, pray continually, trust God’s Word, and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit. The focus of spiritual warfare is not fear of evil but confidence in Christ.

The Bible encourages believers to be aware of spiritual realities without becoming obsessed with them. Our attention should remain centered on Jesus Christ, who has authority over every power and authority and who promises to be with His people.

The Christian life is not about fearing Satan. It is about following Christ, standing firm in faith, praying faithfully, and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us each day.
