Discover How Jesus Taught His Disciples to Pray
“Lord, Teach Us to Pray”
Prayer was an important part of Jesus’ life and ministry. The disciples regularly saw Him withdraw to quiet places to pray. They noticed that His prayers were different from the formal religious prayers they often heard. Jesus prayed with intimacy, trust, and confidence in His Father.
One day, after watching Jesus pray, the disciples made a simple request:
“Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1)

The Lord’s Prayer
Jesus taught His disciples:
“Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:9-13)

Jesus Taught Us to Begin with Worship

Just as God provided manna for Israel one day at a time, Jesus teaches us to trust God daily rather than worrying about tomorrow.

“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Prayer includes confession and receiving God’s forgiveness.
Jesus also taught that forgiven people should become forgiving people. Our relationship with God affects our relationships with others.
