Praying When Life Doesn’t Make Sense
Trusting God When We Do Not Understand
There are moments in life that leave us asking difficult questions.
A child dies unexpectedly.
A faithful Christian receives a devastating diagnosis.
A family loses everything in a natural disaster.
An innocent person becomes the victim of violence.
A marriage ends despite years of prayer.
A tragedy strikes without warning.
In these moments, we may find ourselves asking, “Why?”
The Bible does not ignore these questions. Many of God’s people—including Job, David, Jeremiah, and the prophets—cried out to God in confusion, sorrow, and grief. Even Jesus expressed deep anguish as He suffered on the cross.
God does not ask us to pretend that everything is fine.
He invites us to bring our questions, tears, fears, and doubts to Him in prayer.

Bring Your Honest Questions to God
Prayer is a place for honesty.
Tell God what you do not understand.
Share your disappointment.
Express your sorrow.
Ask your questions.
God is not offended by sincere questions that come from a heart seeking Him.
He welcomes us just as we are.
Remember That God Is Present
When life is painful, God has not abandoned you.
He is near to the brokenhearted.
He walks with His people through every valley.
Even when His purposes remain hidden, His presence remains constant.
You may not understand His plan today, but you never face suffering alone.
Trust God’s Wisdom
Our perspective is limited.
God sees the beginning and the end.
There are mysteries we cannot fully explain this side of eternity.
Choosing to trust God does not mean we understand everything.
It means we believe His character remains good, loving, wise, and faithful, even when circumstances are difficult.
Pray for Strength for Today
Sometimes we ask God to explain our circumstances.
Often He first gives us the strength to walk through them.
Ask Him for:
Wisdom.
Peace.
Endurance.
Hope.
Courage.
Grace for today.
God promises to provide what we need for each step of the journey.
Look to Jesus
Jesus understands suffering.
He experienced rejection, betrayal, injustice, grief, pain, and death.
Because of His life, death, and resurrection, we know that suffering does not have the final word.
Our hope rests in the risen Christ, who promises that one day He will make all things new.
Hold On to Hope
Some questions may remain unanswered in this life.
Yet God’s promises remain certain.
He is still working.
He is still faithful.
He is still present.
One day every tear will be wiped away, and all things will be made right in His eternal kingdom.
Until then, we continue walking by faith, trusting the God whose love never fails.
