Praying for Your Grandchildren
Leaving a Legacy of Faith Through Prayer
Being a grandparent is one of life’s greatest blessings.
Grandparents have a unique opportunity to encourage, support, and pray for the next generation. While parents carry the daily responsibilities of raising children, grandparents often have the privilege of offering wisdom, unconditional love, and faithful encouragement throughout every stage of life.
One of the most powerful gifts you can give your grandchildren is your prayers.
You may not always be able to solve their problems or protect them from every difficulty, but you can faithfully bring them before God. Prayer allows you to entrust your grandchildren to the One who loves them even more than you do.

Pray That They Will Know Jesus
The greatest desire of every Christian grandparent is that their grandchildren will come to know and follow Jesus Christ.
Pray that they will:
Understand God’s love.
Trust Jesus as their Savior.
Grow in faith.
Love God’s Word.
Develop a personal relationship with Christ.
Remain faithful throughout their lives.
Nothing is more important than their eternal relationship with God.
Pray for God’s Protection
Our world presents many challenges to young people.
Pray that God will protect your grandchildren physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Ask Him to guard them from:
Temptation.
Fear.
Discouragement.
Harmful influences.
Danger.
False teaching.
Poor choices.
Pray that God will surround them with faithful friends, wise mentors, caring teachers, and a church family that encourages their faith.
Pray for Wisdom and Character
More than success or popularity, pray that your grandchildren will develop godly character.
Ask God to help them grow in:
Love.
Joy.
Peace.
Patience.
Kindness.
Goodness.
Faithfulness.
Gentleness.
Self-control.
Pray that they will become men and women who reflect the character of Jesus Christ.
Pray for Their Families
Lift up your grandchildren’s parents in prayer.
Pray for wisdom, patience, unity, and strength as they raise their children.
Ask God to bless their homes with love, peace, forgiveness, and a desire to follow Christ together.
As families grow stronger in faith, future generations are blessed.
Be a Spiritual Encourager
Grandparents often have opportunities to influence their grandchildren in lasting ways.
Pray with them.
Read Bible stories together.
Share how God has been faithful throughout your life.
Encourage them during difficult seasons.
Celebrate their spiritual milestones.
Your words and example may be remembered for many years.
Trust God Across the Miles
Many grandparents live far from their grandchildren.
Distance does not limit the power of prayer.
Whether you see your grandchildren every day or only occasionally, God is always with them.
Your prayers continue to make a difference regardless of where they live.
Leave a Lasting Legacy
One day your grandchildren may not remember every gift you gave them.
They are more likely to remember your love, your encouragement, your example, and your faith.
A praying grandparent leaves a legacy that reaches beyond one generation.
Your faithful prayers today may influence children, grandchildren, and generations yet to come.
