Praying for Your Children
Entrusting Your Children to God’s Loving Care
Few responsibilities are greater than raising children.
From their earliest days through adulthood, children need the love, wisdom, guidance, and protection that only God can provide. Parents can teach, encourage, and model faith, but they cannot control every decision their children make or every challenge they will face.
Prayer is one of the greatest gifts parents can give their children.
As we faithfully pray for our children, we place them in the loving hands of our Heavenly Father. We ask Him to guide their hearts, strengthen their faith, protect them from harm, and help them become the people He created them to be.

Pray for Their Relationship with God
Above every other desire, pray that your children will know and love Jesus Christ.
Ask God to help them:
Understand His love.
Trust Jesus as Savior.
Grow in faith.
Love God’s Word.
Walk in obedience.
Remain faithful throughout their lives.
A strong relationship with Christ is the greatest foundation for every other area of life.
Pray for Wisdom and Character
Our world values success, popularity, and achievement.
God desires hearts shaped by His character.
Pray that your children will grow in:
Wisdom.
Integrity.
Humility.
Compassion.
Kindness.
Patience.
Self-control.
Faithfulness.
As they mature, ask God to help them reflect the character of Christ in their words, actions, and relationships.
Pray for God’s Protection
Every parent wants their children to be safe.
Pray for God’s protection over them physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Ask Him to guard them from:
Danger.
Temptation.
Harmful influences.
Discouragement.
Fear.
Poor decisions.
Pray that God will surround them with wise friends, caring mentors, and opportunities to grow in faith.
Pray for Their Decisions
As children grow, they face many important choices.
Friendships.
Education.
Careers.
Marriage.
Faith.
Serving others.
Ask God to give them wisdom to make decisions that honor Him and bring blessing to their lives.
Pray that they will seek God’s will above their own desires.
Pray Through Every Season
Children grow quickly.
Parents experience seasons of joy, concern, celebration, disappointment, and change.
There may be times when your children struggle, wander from their faith, or face hardships beyond your control.
Do not stop praying.
God loves your children even more than you do, and He continues working in their lives even when you cannot see it.
Be an Example of Faith
Children learn as much from what they observe as from what they are taught.
As you pray for your children, allow them to see your own faith in action.
Pray with them.
Read Scripture together.
Worship together.
Serve others together.
Your example can leave a lasting spiritual legacy.
Trust God with Your Children
Parents cannot always be present.
God always is.
There will come a time when your children make their own decisions and walk their own path.
Continue entrusting them to God.
His wisdom is greater than ours.
His love is perfect.
His faithfulness never fails.
Prayer allows us to release our fears and place our confidence in the One who knows and loves our children completely.
