Praying for Wisdom
Seeking God’s Guidance for Everyday Decisions and Every Season of Life
Life is filled with decisions.
Some choices are simple, while others shape the direction of our lives. We make decisions about our families, careers, finances, health, relationships, ministry, and countless daily responsibilities. At times we may wonder what God wants us to do or fear making the wrong choice.
God does not leave His children to navigate life alone.
He invites us to seek His wisdom through prayer. Scripture promises that when we ask for wisdom in faith, God generously gives it to those who seek Him.
God’s wisdom is more than knowledge.
It is the ability to see life from His perspective, to understand His truth, and to make decisions that honor Him. As we grow closer to Christ, the Holy Spirit shapes our hearts and helps us discern His will.

Ask God with Confidence
God delights in giving wisdom to His children.
Come to Him with confidence, believing that He hears your prayers.
Ask Him to guide your thoughts, your decisions, and your actions.
Trust that He will faithfully lead you according to His perfect will.
Seek God’s Word
God’s wisdom is revealed through Scripture.
As you pray, spend time reading His Word.
The Bible shapes our thinking, corrects our attitudes, and provides principles for every area of life.
The more we know God’s Word, the more we recognize His wisdom.
Pray for a Teachable Heart
Wisdom begins with humility.
Ask God to give you a heart that is willing to learn, accept correction, and grow.
Pride often keeps us from seeing the truth.
A teachable spirit allows God to continue shaping us into the people He desires us to become.
Seek Wise Counsel
God often provides wisdom through other people.
Pray for discernment as you seek advice from mature Christians, pastors, trusted friends, and wise mentors.
Listen carefully, compare every counsel with Scripture, and ask God to help you recognize His leading.
Wait Patiently on God
Not every prayer for wisdom receives an immediate answer.
Sometimes God leads one step at a time.
Resist the temptation to rush ahead.
Ask Him for patience while He opens and closes doors according to His timing.
His delays are never without purpose.
Trust God’s Direction
There may be times when God’s leading differs from your own plans.
Trust that His wisdom is greater than yours.
Even when you cannot see the entire path, He promises to direct your steps as you place your confidence in Him.
His plans are always rooted in His love, His truth, and His perfect knowledge.
Live Out God’s Wisdom
God gives wisdom not only to help us make decisions but also to help us live faithfully each day.
Ask Him to help you demonstrate:
Humility.
Integrity.
Patience.
Compassion.
Discernment.
Self-control.
Love.
As His wisdom fills your heart, it will become evident in the way you live and serve others.
