Praying for Guidance
Seeking God’s Direction One Step at a Time
Life is full of decisions that shape our future.
Some choices are small and routine. Others involve relationships, careers, ministry, education, finances, health, retirement, or major life changes. During these moments, we often wonder, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
God delights in guiding His children.
He does not promise to reveal every detail of the future, but He does promise to lead those who seek Him with humble and trusting hearts. Through His Word, the Holy Spirit, prayer, wise counsel, and the circumstances He allows, God faithfully directs those who place their confidence in Him.
Praying for guidance is not asking God to approve our plans.

Bring Every Decision to God
No decision is too small or too great to place before the Lord.
Tell Him about your questions.
Your concerns.
Your opportunities.
Your uncertainties.
Ask Him to help you see your circumstances from His perspective rather than your own.
He invites you to trust Him completely.
Seek God’s Will Above Your Own
It is natural to have personal hopes and plans.
Yet the greatest prayer we can pray is, “Lord, Your will be done.”
Ask God to give you a willing heart.
If His answer differs from your expectations, trust that His plans are wiser, greater, and more loving than anything you could choose for yourself.
Listen Carefully
God often guides quietly.
Spend time reading Scripture.
Pray faithfully.
Listen more than you speak.
Pay attention to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
As you grow closer to Christ, you become better able to recognize His leading.
Seek Wise Counsel
God frequently provides guidance through mature believers.
Seek advice from pastors, trusted Christian friends, mentors, and others who know God’s Word.
Listen with humility.
Compare every piece of advice with Scripture.
Ask God to confirm His direction through wise counsel.
Trust God One Step at a Time
God rarely reveals the entire journey at once.
More often, He gives enough light for the next step.
Walk faithfully with the understanding you have today.
As you obey Him, He continues to direct your path.
Faith grows as we trust Him one step at a time.
Be Willing to Wait
Sometimes guidance comes through waiting.
Closed doors.
Delayed answers.
Unexpected changes.
Do not mistake God’s silence for His absence.
He is working even when you cannot see His hand.
Trust His timing as much as His direction.
Walk Forward in Faith
Eventually there comes a time to act.
After praying, studying Scripture, seeking wise counsel, and trusting God’s leading, move forward in faith.
Do not allow fear to keep you from obedience.
The God who guides you also walks with you.
