There are seasons when we need more than answers. We need shelter.

We need a place to bring our fear, grief, questions, weariness, and uncertainty. Scripture reminds us that God is not distant from our trouble. He is present with us in it.

Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very ready help in trouble.”

To call God our refuge means we can run to Him. We do not have to pretend to be strong. We do not have to carry everything alone. God welcomes us into His care.

Shelter does not always mean the storm disappears immediately. Sometimes shelter means God holds us steady while the storm continues. Sometimes it means peace in the middle of fear. Sometimes it means strength for the next step.

In Jesus, we see God’s sheltering love. Jesus invites the weary to come to Him and find rest. He speaks peace to troubled hearts. He promises that nothing can separate us from the love of God.

What We Learn

God is our refuge when life feels unsafe.

God is present with us in trouble.

God gives peace that is deeper than circumstances.

Jesus invites the weary to come and rest.

God’s love holds us when we feel weak.

Reflection Questions

Where do I usually turn first when I feel afraid or overwhelmed?

What would it look like to run to God as my refuge this week?

How has God sheltered me in a difficult season before?

Who around me may need encouragement, prayer, or a reminder that they are not alone?

Walk It Out

This week, take a few quiet moments to pray Psalm 46:1 slowly:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very ready help in trouble.”

Name the fear or burden you are carrying. Then ask God to help you rest in His presence, trust His care, and take the next faithful step.
