Hebrews 11: Heroes of Faith

Near the end of his life, Jacob continued trusting God’s promises for his family and future generations.
Joseph

Even before Israel returned to the Promised Land, he trusted that God would keep His word.
Moses
Moses chose obedience to God over the riches and power of Egypt.
He led God’s people through extraordinary challenges because he trusted the Lord.
Rahab
Rahab believed in the God of Israel and courageously protected the Israelite spies.
Her faith changed the course of her life forever.
Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the Prophets
These men experienced both victories and failures.
Their lives remind us that God works through imperfect people who trust Him.
Faith Is Not About Perfection
One encouraging truth about Hebrews 11 is that many of these people made serious mistakes.
Noah became drunk.
Abraham struggled with fear.
Sarah laughed at God’s promise.
Moses lost his temper.
David committed grievous sins.
Samson made foolish choices.
Yet God remained faithful.
Saving faith is not based on perfect performance but on trusting a perfect God.
Some Received Miracles—Others Endured Suffering
Hebrews 11 presents a balanced picture of faith.
Some witnessed incredible victories.
Kingdoms were conquered.
Prayers were answered.
Promises were fulfilled.
Others were mocked.
Imprisoned.

He endured the cross, fulfilled God’s plan of salvation, and now reigns forever.
