God’s Presence in Every Season
Even in life’s hardest moments, God’s faithfulness remains. Faith gives us hope, strength, and courage to take the next step.

Faith During Hard Seasons

Trusting God When Life Feels Heavy

Faith does not mean life will always be easy.

There are seasons when we face grief, illness, fear, disappointment, caregiving, loss, loneliness, uncertainty, or change. During those times, faith helps us remember that God has not left us.

At Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, we believe Christian living includes learning how to trust God in hard seasons as well as joyful ones.

Faith during hard seasons does not always look strong. Sometimes it looks like one prayer, one step, one Scripture, one tear, one phone call, one worship service, or one quiet moment of hope.

God meets us there.

Faith Does Not Remove Every Burden

Faith does not mean we never hurt.

Faith means we do not carry the hurt alone.

Jesus Himself knew sorrow, suffering, rejection, grief, and pain. Because of that, we can come to Him honestly. We do not have to pretend everything is fine.

God welcomes our prayers, our tears, our questions, and our need.

When Life Changes

Hard seasons often come through change.

A loved one becomes sick. A family member needs care. A season of life ends. Health changes. Grief arrives. Plans shift. Strength feels limited. The future feels uncertain.

In those moments, Christian faith helps us ask:

Where is God with me in this?

What truth can I hold onto today?

What is the next faithful step?

Who can help me walk through this?

Hope in the Middle of the Story

Sometimes we want God to fix everything quickly.

But many times, God strengthens us while the story is still unfolding.

Hope does not mean we know exactly what will happen next.

Hope means we trust the One who holds us.

Romans 15:13 says:

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
NASB

The Church Walks Together

No one should have to walk through a hard season alone.

The church is called to pray, encourage, visit, listen, serve, support, and remind one another of God’s love.

At Pleasant Grove UMC, care may look like a prayer shawl, a phone call, a visit, a meal, a word of encouragement, a ministry gathering, a worship service, or simply someone sitting beside you.

As neighbors become family, we learn to carry one another with compassion and faith.

Stories of Faith

One way we grow in hard seasons is by hearing how God has been faithful in the lives of others.

Stories of Faith remind us that God is still working.

They help us see perseverance, courage, prayer, healing, endurance, and hope through real people and real experiences.

These stories do not pretend life is easy.

They testify that God is present.

Living Faith During Hard Seasons

During hard seasons, faith may include praying simple prayers.

It may include reading one verse and holding onto it through the day.

It may include coming to worship even when your heart feels heavy.

It may include asking for help.

It may include serving someone else while you are still healing.

It may include trusting God with what you cannot control.

Small steps of faith matter.
