What the Bible Teaches About Relationships
Building Christ-Centered Relationships Through God’s Word
From the opening pages of Genesis to the closing chapters of Revelation, the Bible teaches that relationships are central to God’s plan for humanity. We were created for a relationship with God and for meaningful relationships with one another. Healthy relationships strengthen families, churches, friendships, communities, and workplaces while reflecting the love and character of Jesus Christ.
Because sin entered the world, every relationship has been affected by selfishness, pride, conflict, and brokenness. Yet through Jesus Christ, God offers forgiveness, reconciliation, healing, and the power to love others in new ways. As believers grow in their relationship with Christ, He transforms the way they treat spouses, family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, fellow believers, and even those who are difficult to love.
Throughout the New Testament, God gives believers a series of “one another” commands that describe what healthy Christian relationships should look like. These commands provide practical guidance for everyday life and help us reflect the love of Christ in every relationship.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.” — John 13:34 (NASB 1995)
