Friendship and Community
Growing Christ-Centered Friendships and Living in Christian Community
God created us for relationships. From the beginning of creation, He declared that it was not good for people to be alone. Throughout Scripture, we see the importance of friendship, family, fellowship, hospitality, encouragement, and life together within the community of faith. Healthy relationships strengthen our faith, provide encouragement during difficult seasons, and give us opportunities to love and serve others as Christ has loved us.
Christian friendship is more than companionship. It is a relationship centered on Christ that encourages spiritual growth, offers accountability, provides comfort during times of need, and celebrates God’s blessings together. Likewise, Christian community reminds us that we are part of the body of Christ, where every believer has gifts to share and every person has a place to belong.
Whether you are building new friendships, strengthening existing relationships, seeking a deeper sense of community, overcoming loneliness, or learning how to welcome others, God’s Word provides timeless wisdom for living in loving, supportive relationships.
“And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together… but encouraging one another.” — Hebrews 10:24–25a (NASB 1995)
