Before anyone can lead others well, they must first learn to follow Christ.
Jesus called His disciples to walk with Him, learn from Him, and imitate His example. Christian leadership grows out of discipleship.
The most effective Christian leaders are people who continue to grow in faith, prayer, worship, humility, and obedience to God.
Leadership begins not with a title, but with a relationship with Jesus.
Jesus: Our Example of Leadership
Jesus said:
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.”
(Mark 10:43)
Jesus washed His disciples’ feet.
He welcomed children.
He showed compassion to the hurting.
He taught truth with love.
He sacrificed Himself for others.
Jesus demonstrated that leadership is not about being served. It is about serving others in God’s name.
Every Christian leader is called to follow His example.
Characteristics of Christian Leaders
Christian leadership reflects Christlike character.
Humility
Christian leaders recognize that leadership is a responsibility entrusted by God, not a position for personal gain.
Integrity
Godly leaders seek to be honest, trustworthy, and faithful in both public and private life.
Love
Christian leadership is rooted in caring for people and seeking their well-being.
Wisdom
Leaders seek God’s guidance through prayer, Scripture, and wise counsel.
Courage
Christian leaders often face difficult decisions and challenges while remaining faithful to God’s truth.
Servanthood
The heart of Christian leadership is serving others rather than seeking recognition.
Faithfulness
Leadership is measured not by popularity or success but by faithfulness to God’s calling.
Every Christian Can Lead
Leadership is not limited to pastors, teachers, or ministry directors.
Parents lead their families.
Grandparents influence future generations.
Sunday School teachers shape lives through God’s Word.
Volunteers serve through acts of kindness.
Church members encourage and mentor others.
Every believer has opportunities to influence people for Christ.
God often uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary purposes.
Spiritual Gifts and Leadership
God equips believers with spiritual gifts to strengthen the church and serve others.
Some are gifted to teach.
Some encourage.
Some organize.
Some shepherd.
Some lead ministries.
Some quietly serve behind the scenes.
Healthy leadership recognizes that every gift matters and every member has a role to play in the work of Christ.

Some prepare meals.
