Christian Discipleship
Following Jesus Every Day
Jesus did not simply call people to believe certain truths. He called people to follow Him.
Christian discipleship is the lifelong journey of learning from Jesus, becoming more like Jesus, and living for Jesus in everyday life. It involves growing in faith, studying Scripture, worshiping God, serving others, sharing the gospel, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and lives.

Following Jesus Together
What Is a Disciple?
A disciple is a learner, follower, and student.
When Jesus called His first disciples, He invited them into a relationship with Him. They learned from His teaching, observed His example, followed His leadership, and shared His mission.
Today, Christians continue that same journey.
A disciple seeks to:
Know Jesus more deeply
Love God wholeheartedly
Follow God’s Word faithfully
Serve others generously
Grow in Christian character
Share Christ with others
Live a life that reflects the love of God
Jesus’ Invitation
Jesus said:
“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
(Matthew 4:19)
Discipleship begins with responding to Christ’s invitation.
Jesus does not call us only to attend church occasionally or learn information about faith. He calls us into a daily relationship that changes how we think, live, serve, and love.
Marks of a Growing Disciple
Growing disciples are not perfect people.
They are people who continually seek Christ and allow God to shape their lives.
Worship
Disciples gather with other believers to worship God, hear His Word, celebrate the sacraments, and encourage one another.
Prayer
Prayer strengthens our relationship with God and helps us listen for His guidance.
Scripture
The Bible teaches us God’s truth, reveals His character, and guides our daily lives.
Christian Community
Faith grows best when believers encourage, support, and learn from one another.
Service
Jesus taught His followers to serve others with humility and love.
Generosity
Disciples recognize that everything belongs to God and seek to use their time, talents, and resources faithfully.
Witness
Followers of Christ share God’s love and the good news of Jesus through both words and actions.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
Christian growth is not accomplished through our own strength.
The Holy Spirit helps us understand Scripture, develop Christian character, resist temptation, grow in faith, and become more like Christ.
As believers walk with God, the Holy Spirit continues to transform hearts and lives.
Growing Through Every Season
Discipleship happens during both joyful and difficult seasons.
God teaches us through times of celebration, success, loss, disappointment, waiting, and change.
Discipleship Is a Lifelong Journey
Following Jesus is not a program, class, or short-term commitment. Discipleship continues throughout every season of life. From new believers to mature Christians, followers of Christ are continually learning, growing, serving, and becoming more like Jesus.
