Integrity is the quality of being honest, trustworthy, and consistent in both public and private life. A person of integrity seeks to honor God not only when others are watching, but also when no one else knows what they are doing.
The Bible teaches that integrity is more than telling the truth. It is living a life that reflects God’s character. Integrity affects our words, actions, decisions, relationships, work, finances, and spiritual life. It means that what we believe, what we say, and what we do are all aligned.
Integrity is doing what is right even when no one is watching.
What Is Integrity?
Integrity means wholeness, completeness, and moral consistency.
A person of integrity:
Speaks truthfully
Keeps promises
Acts honestly
Lives consistently
Admits mistakes
Honors commitments
Chooses what is right even when it is difficult
Integrity means being the same person at church, at home, at work, online, and in every other setting.
Integrity Reflects God’s Character
God is completely truthful, faithful, and trustworthy.
Because Christians are called to become more like Christ, integrity should be evident in the lives of believers.
Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie.”
Titus 1:2
“God, who cannot lie.”
Jesus perfectly demonstrated integrity throughout His earthly life. His words, actions, and character were always in complete agreement with the Father’s will.
Walking in Integrity
Psalm 15 describes the kind of person who lives close to God.
Psalm 15:2
“He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart.”
Walking in integrity means:
Choosing truth over deception
Keeping commitments
Treating others fairly
Being trustworthy
Honoring God in daily decisions
Integrity is often revealed through small choices long before it is tested in major situations.
Integrity in Speech
Our words reveal our character.
Ephesians 4:25
“Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor.”
Christians demonstrate integrity when they:

Refuse to exaggerate
Keep confidential matters private
Speak honestly and graciously

One of the greatest tests of character is what we do when nobody else knows.
Proverbs 11:3

Living for God’s approval rather than human approval helps believers remain faithful when tempted to compromise.

Repent quickly when you fail.
