The Christian Discipleship Library at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church organizes biblical teaching into three learning pathways—Foundations of Faith, The Big Story, and Growing as a Christian—to help believers grow from the basics of faith to spiritual maturity.

Christian Discipleship Library

.Welcome to the Christian Discipleship Library at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Following Jesus Christ is a lifelong journey of learning, growing, and becoming more like Him. From the moment a person places their faith in Christ, God begins a lifelong work of transformation through His Word, His Spirit, and His Church.

The Christian Discipleship Library was created to help guide that journey.

Rather than simply collecting articles by topic, this library provides a structured pathway for spiritual growth. Each section builds upon the one before it, helping you develop a strong biblical foundation, understand God’s plan throughout history, and learn how to faithfully live as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Whether you are exploring Christianity for the first time, have recently trusted Christ, or have followed Him for many years, these resources are designed to help you continue growing in biblical knowledge, spiritual maturity, and faithful Christian living.

“For this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge…” — 2 Peter 1:5 (NASB 1995)

Growing in the Knowledge of Christ

A Structured Path for Spiritual Growth

Spiritual growth does not happen all at once.

Just as children grow from infancy to maturity, Christians continue learning throughout their lives. Every new lesson builds upon what has already been learned.

The Christian Discipleship Library is organized into three major learning pathways that help believers grow step by step.

You are welcome to explore any topic at any time, but many people find it helpful to begin with the foundations and continue through the entire library.

Learning Pathway One

Foundations of Faith

Build Your Biblical Foundation

Every disciple needs a strong foundation.

Before studying the deeper themes of Scripture or exploring practical Christian living, it is important to understand the essential truths that unite followers of Jesus Christ.

This pathway answers many of the most important questions people ask about the Christian faith.

Who is God?

Who is Jesus Christ?

Who is the Holy Spirit?

What is salvation?

Why did Jesus die on the cross?

Can I trust the Bible?

What is the Church?

What happens after death?

How does God continue changing believers after salvation?

These studies provide the doctrinal foundation that supports everything else you will learn as a follower of Christ.

Learning Pathway Two

The Big Story

Understanding God’s Plan from Genesis to Revelation

The Bible contains sixty-six books written over many centuries by many human authors.

Yet together they tell one unified story.

It is the story of God’s love, His holiness, humanity’s fall into sin, His plan of redemption through Jesus Christ, the birth of the Church, and His promise to restore all things.

Understanding this “big story” helps every passage of Scripture make more sense.

Instead of seeing isolated Bible stories, you’ll begin seeing how everything points to Jesus Christ and fits into God’s eternal plan.

Learning Pathway Three

Growing as a Christian

Living as a Faithful Disciple

Knowing biblical truth is only the beginning.

God calls believers not only to know His Word but also to live it.

This pathway focuses on spiritual growth and practical Christian living.

As you continue following Jesus, you’ll discover how Scripture shapes every part of life—from prayer and worship to relationships, serving others, sharing your faith, and growing through difficult seasons.

The goal is not simply to gain knowledge but to become more like Christ every day.

Suggested Learning Plan

If you’re not sure where to begin, consider following this simple pathway.

Step 1

Build your foundation by studying the essential truths of Christianity through Foundations of Faith.

Step 2

Learn how the entire Bible fits together by exploring The Big Story.

Step 3

Apply biblical truth to everyday life through Growing as a Christian.

Step 4

Continue expanding your understanding by exploring additional Bible studies, devotional lessons, topical studies, and discipleship resources throughout the website.

Remember, spiritual growth is a lifelong journey. You don’t have to finish everything before moving forward. Continue learning, asking questions, studying Scripture, and allowing God to shape your life through His Word.

Our Prayer

Our prayer is that this library will become more than a collection of Bible studies.

We pray it becomes a place where people encounter God’s truth, grow in their understanding of Scripture, strengthen their faith, and become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Whether you study one page or hundreds, may every lesson draw you closer to Christ, deepen your love for His Word, strengthen your walk with Him, and equip you to share His hope with the world.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” — 2 Peter 3:18 (NASB 1995)
