Children & Youth

Children aren’t the future of the church. They ARE the church.

At Pleasant Grove UMC, we see our children and youth as essential in God’s mission for our church. For this reason, we are devoted to ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and spiritual development your child needs to fulfill this mission. While we offer trained teachers to support children of every age, we also encourage their participation and leadership in worship whenever possible.

The Grove, Sundays at 9:30 AM

With our variety of Sunday school classes available, there’s something for everyone. Still, all share in common a deep desire to know God and support one another on their faith journey.

Acolytes

Being an acolyte is an easy way our children and youth can lead the church in worship. They carry Christ’s “light” into worship every Sunday. Contact Pastor Matt, if interested.

Confirmation

Confirmation is an essential experience for every young person. Our young people explore the Christian faith, studying theology and church history through the classroom, church leadership, and immersive experiences. Confirmations is meant to confirm the seeds of faith planted at baptism as every student is invited to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior at the close of the process.

Cub Scouts – Pack 120

Pack 120 is a small and growing Family Pack, meaning we accept applications from both boys and girls, Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.   As a Family Pack, we actively work to ensure that we have active, trained, and formally screened leaders for both boy and girl Den and Pack activities.  All leaders are required to pass formal background checks and follow strict protocol when interacting with all scouts.

Pack 120 is part of the Scouting BSA, Greater Alabama Council, Cherokee District. While we meet at the Methodist Church, our Pack and BSA is open to scouts of any and all religious backgrounds.
