Families Are Welcome at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church
One of the first questions many parents ask before visiting a church is:
“What about my kids?”
We understand.
Visiting a new church can feel overwhelming, especially when you have children. At Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, we want every family to feel welcomed, supported, and at home from the moment they arrive.
Children matter to God, and they matter to us. Whether your family has attended church for years or this is your very first visit, we are glad you’re here.
Children Are Welcome in Worship
Absolutely.
Children are a blessing, not a distraction.
We welcome families to worship together and understand that children learn by participating. They may wiggle, whisper, ask questions, or occasionally become restless—and that’s okay. We believe those moments are part of helping children grow in faith.
Our congregation values grace, patience, and encouragement as families worship together.
Sunday School for Children and Youth
Sunday School begins each Sunday at 9:30 AM.
Children and youth are invited to participate in age-appropriate learning opportunities where they can discover Bible stories, grow in their faith, build friendships, and experience God’s love in a caring environment.
Adults also have Sunday School classes that provide opportunities for Bible study, discussion, prayer, and fellowship.

What If My Child Is Active or Noisy?
Please don’t worry.
Every child is different, and every family has experienced those moments.
We would much rather hear the sounds of children learning and growing than have families feel uncomfortable or unwelcome.
There is no need to apologize for bringing your children to worship.
What About Teenagers?
The teenage years are filled with questions, challenges, and important decisions.
We want every young person to know they are loved, valued, and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our desire is to help youth build friendships, deepen their faith, and discover meaningful ways to serve God and others.
We’ve Never Been to Church Before
That’s perfectly okay.
Many families who visit us have little church experience or are returning after many years away.
You do not need to know the Bible, understand church traditions, or have everything figured out before you come.
Simply come as you are. We would be honored to welcome you.
What Should We Wear?
Wear whatever is comfortable and appropriate for your family.
Some people dress casually, while others choose more traditional attire. You’ll find a variety of styles on Sunday morning.
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable joining us.
Will Someone Help Us?
Yes.
Our greeters and church family are happy to answer questions, help you find classrooms, restrooms, entrances, or seating, and make sure your family feels welcome.
If you need assistance, simply ask. We’d love to help.
Parents Need Encouragement Too
We know that raising a family can be joyful, exhausting, rewarding, and challenging—all at the same time.
Church should be a place where parents receive encouragement, friendship, and support, not pressure or judgment.
Our hope is that every family experiences the love of Christ through genuine hospitality, caring relationships, and a church family that welcomes people of every age.
