Getting Ready for the Harvest Festival Apple Pie Tradition

Every Harvest Festival begins long before the first pie is assembled.

Preparing for pie-making requires planning, organization, teamwork, and many helping hands. Before apples are peeled or dough is mixed, volunteers gather supplies, organize work areas, prepare equipment, and make sure everything is ready for the busy weeks ahead.

Tables are arranged, pie pans are organized, ingredients are gathered, and boxes of fresh apples begin arriving. What may look like simple preparation is actually the foundation for producing approximately 700 homemade fried apple pies for the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Harvest Festival.

These early workdays are filled with anticipation as volunteers reconnect with old friends, welcome new helpers, and begin another season of serving together. Laughter, conversation, and a willingness to help one another quickly fill the fellowship hall as preparations get underway.
