A Simple Ministry of Everyday Hope

At Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, our Blessing Box is a simple but meaningful ministry that provides free food, personal care items, and everyday essentials to anyone in need.

Located in Pleasant Grove, Alabama, the Blessing Box is available to neighbors, families, visitors, and anyone facing a difficult season. It is one small way we seek to share Christ’s love through practical acts of kindness and compassion.

Take what you need. Share what you can.

The Story Behind the Blessing Box

The Blessing Box was created through the leadership and dedication of Eagle Scout Ryder Dean, whose project continues to bless our community every day.

What may look like a simple purple, mailbox-style box has become a visible reminder that hope, generosity, and God’s love are always within reach.

Every item placed inside represents someone choosing to care for a neighbor.

How the Blessing Box Works

The Blessing Box is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There are:

  • No forms to complete.
  • No appointments to schedule.
  • No qualifications to meet.
  • No questions asked.

If you need something, simply take it.

If you are able to help someone else, leave something for the next person.

Together, our community keeps the Blessing Box filled with hope.

A Ministry of Dignity and Grace

The Blessing Box is built on a simple belief:

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity.

Sometimes people need help for a few days.

Sometimes for a season.

Whatever the circumstance, we want every person to know they are welcomed, respected, and loved.

This ministry allows neighbors to receive assistance privately while reminding them they are not alone.

Why It Matters

Sometimes hope looks like a warm meal.

Sometimes it looks like a toothbrush, a bar of soap, or a box of cereal.

Small gifts often become powerful reminders that someone cares.

Every donation reflects the compassion of Jesus Christ and strengthens our community one act of kindness at a time.
